ALASKA CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE
2003 BIENNIAL ASSEMBLY
RESOLUTION 4-03
RESOLUTION ON RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
WHEREAS: The churches of Alaska Christian Conference are committed to the
well-being of all people, and
WHEREAS: Our call in Christ is to be reconciling and restoring, and
WHEREAS: Systems of blame, punishment, and retribution have failed to produce
positive change in human behavior or facilitate reconciliation and
healthy community, and
WHEREAS: Restorative Justice is a framework by which to repair harm done, to
uphold positive community values, and to mend broken relationships,
THEREFORE: The Alaska Christian Conference assembled in Juneau, Alaska, on
February 20, 2003, urges churches, public institutions, and public officials to
support and facilitate understanding of Restorative Justice and its underlying
principles, and to apply Restorative Justice to the Criminal Justice System.
