RESOLUTION 3-03

RESOLUTION ON SUBSISTENCE REPORT


 

WHEREAS: The Alaska Christian Conference has historically strongly supported Alaska Native subsistence rights, sovereignty, and cultural integrity, and

WHEREAS: The Rural Alaska Community Action Program sponsored the Native Fish, Wildlife, Habitat, and Environment Summit in Anchorage, Alaska,
on August 18-22, 2002, and

WHEREAS: The Summit produced a report of its findings and distributed the report to all Alaska legislators,

THEREFORE: The Alaska Christian Conference assembled in Juneau, Alaska, on February 20, 2003, endorses the Native Fish, Wildlife, Habitat, and Environment Report, and urges the Alaska Legislature to review the report and to support Alaska Natives in their effort to maintain their culture, their subsistence way of life, and their control over their communities as the Alaska Native Review Commission has recommended in its 1994 Report.

ADOPTED: February 20, 2003, in Juneau, Alaska.
