Martin Luther King JR Day Community Worship Service
January 19, 2009 * 7:00 PM
The Alaska Christian Conference in partnership with The Episcopal Church and other denominations is coordinating an ecumenical service that honors the life and works of civil rights leader, Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior on Monday, January 19, 2009.
The service will be held at the First United Methodist Church at XXX in Anchorage, Alaska and will begin 7:00 PM. Refreshments will follow.
Irma L. Blanchett MBA, who is the CEO of the Charlotte Business Management Institute, will deliver the evening message. The Reverend Michael Burke of Saint Mary's Episcopal Church will be the Celebrant leading the partaking of Holy Communion. Individuals from Valley and Anchorage Churches will be participating throughout the time of worship. In addition, the groups "XXX" and "XXX" will share their talents within the service.

Irma Blanchett recently retired from the corporate world as Senior Vice President Group Executive leading the very successful internal consulting firm for Wachovia Bank. Her 20 years on the front line and in management with IBM and Johnson & Johnson provided a firm foundation of successful real life work experiences for her 12 years of consulting for IBM and Wachovia.
Currently she is CEO of a new enterprise dedicated to creating superb business and people managers, the Charlotte Business Management Institute. The Institute offers consulting, training and speaking services to profit and non profit organizations committed to increasing the effectiveness, loyalty and productivity of their management team.
She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her MBA from the Wharton Graduate School of Business. She was featured in the March 2001 Ebony magazine Women At The Top In Corporate America article, and in the February 2006 Charlotte Business Journal Wachovia to Push Agenda On Diversity article. She has served as a panelist for the 2004 Diversity Council of the Carolinas annual conference and speaks on leadership, management and process improvement for organizations as diverse as the College Board and the eWomen Network.
